Why we support the Sika Foundation
Over 6000 hours of volunteer time annually from passionate hunters with a conservation based mindset going towards various conservation projects, management hunting, hut and track maintenance throughout the Kaimanawa Forest Park and trap servicing in the Oamaru, Kaipo, Cascade and Hinemaiaia River catchments with 45km's of trap line currently in place to protect Whio - Blue Duck and their breeding habitat.
Over 4,500kgs of pure organic hunter donated venison mince supplied to food banks in Turangi, Taupo, Te Kuiti and Te Awamutu to date.
Adaptive deer management implemented in the Kaimanawa Forest Park to ensure a flourishing forest habitat and a healthy herd with better balance going forward.
Recently starting a longer term 15,000HA deer management project in the Remote Experience Zone - REZ to ensure mountain beech forest regeneration and a healthier deer population there.
